Description of Kitlope Heritage Conservancy Protected Area:
This park encompasses the world's largest intact coastal temperate rainforest. This unique rainforest has old-growth trees over 800 years old. The Kitlope Valley is an important habitat for marbled murrelets, bald eagles, moose, grizzly, black
bear and waterfowl. The Kitlope Valley lies within the traditional territory of the Haisla nation.
Wilderness, backcountry or walk-in camping is allowed, but no facilities are provided. Winter camping is available at campsites on Kitlope Lake.
One public cabin is available year round on a first-come, first-served basis on the Kitlope River. |
Description of Eagle Lodge:
Located midway between the villages of Hagensborg and Bella Coola, Eagle Lodge sits on five beautiful landscaped acres. When the rain clouds lift, large windows in each of the spacious guest rooms look out onto sparkling jagged peaks. Each room has a private bath. One guest room has an adjoining smaller bedroom. There are no phones in the rooms. Seven guest rooms with private baths are available. Photo copying, faxing, and internet services available.
Guests may choose to luxuriate in the out door spa as they watch the sun rise, the eagles soar, or spot the occasional deer or bear browsing in the orchard. |
